Independence Falls is still reeling after the very public exposure of the Independents. With townspeople choosing sides and determining what needs to happen to the Independents, the town's charm has been lost in anger and fear.We have another set of young lovers from the opposite side of the tracks: Ruth, timid and obedient to her controlling father and Henry, the recently returned doctor forging his path in town. To me, this story is all about Dr. Porter. He may not have a superhero power like the Independents but he may be the biggest hero we've met so far. Together, Ruth and Henry discover the potential they each have. The back story the author created for each of the protagonists is what drew me in the most; Henry most of all.
Loved this. My favorite in the series so far.

Well, that was a little disappointing.
It's not a secret that I'm a huge fan of this series. The writing, the setting, the atmosphere, the plot, the characters, the romance. All of it is just a little different from what we usually get in the Paranormal Romance genre. Even the calm pacing isn't what I'm used to. In Ignited, however, all of this felt a little off.
First of all, for the first time, I didn't really enjoy one of the main characters. Henry was perfect. Totally beta, sweet, caring, considerate, a little shy and awkward when it came to Ruth. He kept me swooning the whole time. I loved everything about him.
Ruth, however... meh. She was so inconsistent, and I just didn't find her authentic. For 22 years, she's been under the thumb of her religious zealot of a father. She's always been the dutiful daughter - devout, humble, docile and, of course, chaste without so much as giving a thought to any act that would soil her perfect little soul. Then she meets Henry, and BAM! ... she starts having wet dreams, sets her clothes on fire thinking of him, makes out in her backyard and just so jumps into bed with Henry after knowing him for a week or so, turning into some kind of saucy seductress.
The whole romance just didn't feel realistic. Too much insta-everything. Insta-attraction, insta-trust, insta-intimacy, insta-love, insta-sex.
All in all, this book just read like it was written by someone else. I know that Lily Cahill is an alias for a group of several authors, so maybe there was some swapping going on? Who knows? It was quite repetitive and really cheesy, so different from its predecessors.
Aside from that, I still love the overall plot. The mystery, the secrets, the powers, the growing tension within the town of Independence Falls, and how everything unravels bit by bit as the series progresses. The story is gripping and I can't wait to find out more. Also, I like how the characters from the former installments keep popping up all the time.
I'm guessing the next book will be about Briar? I really enjoyed her character, she intrigued me right from the beginning. So I'll definitely be reading the next book.
This was my favorite in the series. It can be read stand alone, but the ending leaves you hanging with series drama. However, to me it is a HEA. Hero is so sweet and loyal. The sexual chemistry un this book is steamy hawt and we'll written. It adds to the strong chemistry these two had. I loved how supportive and caring hero was. Book boyfriend material. He was head over heals in love with heroine.
Hero is a doctor, he is also kinda nerdy and dorky. He has baggage from his family and a biatch of a mother. He helps heroine with a medical problem and also keeps secret of her problems. He is there for her and eventually their relationship develops from there. He does try to respect her wishes to wait until marriage but things come to head when heroine flees from her abusive, psychotic father's home. This escalates the relationship between the hero and heroine, but I love how loyal and protective hero is. Heroine finally gets the strength to fight her own battles and accepts her powers as a gift.
I really enjoyed the chemistry btwn these two and how wonderful hero was with heroine. He was so cute and sweet, but very sexual with heroine as well. It had some complex issues and dramatic scenes, but also the climax scene was awesome! Heroine had some cool powers. There is no OW or OM. I would highly recommend this read.
Ruth’s zealot father seems determined to demonize the young people in town that have developed powers, stirring the town into a frenzy likely to lead to a witch hunt, which makes it all the more worrying that she’s having more and more problems hiding her own powers. After a fondly remembered encounter at the general store with the young doctor, and another at a charity drive, Ruth decides to turn to Dr. Henry Porter when things become too much for her to handle on her own. Both Ruth and Henry have less than ideal family situations, and I liked the way they helped each other navigate the difficulties—standing firm as a team and supporting each other through the storm. Ruth’s isolation and naiveté made her a very interesting character and Henry’s calm, gentle presence was perfect paired with her. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Independents in the next book! Interesting storyline. Likeable characters. The Fifties setting was a little bit motiveless and too random for my taste, though. However, I enjoyed the story enough to read the whole series ;)
Another great addition to the series! I really loved the new characters introduced in this book. I'm really enjoying getting to know everyone in Independence Falls diverse back stories and of course love the sweet romances! I'm definitely getting intrigued as the super power story line is getting more and more interesting! About to go buy the 4th book in the series now! Here I come Independence Falls!
